Interview With a Vampire

"Please, work the night shift for me." Holly said to Kayla and Fred as they walked into the coffee shop for their morning shift. "I can't get hold of anyone else and I have to work on this design tonight." She nodded at the desk piled high with paper and old photos.

"Holly," Fred began, running through the list of possible excuses. He had a gig? His mother was in the hospital? He had to be home to dog sit for his neighbor?

"I don't have anyone else, honey, and it's just one night. You know i wouldn't ask you unless i really needed the help,"

She was right. She didn't ever ask Fred or Kayla to work beyond their hours, and seeing the look on their friend's face-brow furrowed with worry-Kayla was having a hard time saying no.

She sighed. "Fred, how bad could it be. I mean, really, how many people come into a coffee shop after sunset?"

"Not many people, i suppose. But Vampires run-a-muck around this part of town after sunset."

Holly's frown deepened and she rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Will you, please?"

"I guess." Fred said.
