More Than Words

The early afternoon sunshine spilled over the porch railing as Kayla swung slowly in the hammock. She chewed on the end of her pen, trying desperatly to ignore the sound of a skateboard hitting cement across the street.
On her lap sat a journal, one that she'd covered in Scratch and Sniff stickers.
There were so many things she wanted to say in her journal, but she wasn't sure where to start. The major thing she was exsperiancing right now was heartache. She wanted Tom here, now, not thousands of miles away.
It'd been so long since she'd seen him. She was finding it hard to conjure an image of him in her mind.
She closed her eyes, day dreaming about Tom, when the front door of the house opened and Cheyenne walked out.
"What are you doing?" Cheyenne said, plopping down in one of the wicker chairs across from the hammock.
Kayla sighed. "Oh, nothing."
"Thinking about Tom, again?"
Kayla put pen to paper but drew a blank. "Maybe a little bit..."
