Dusk to Dawn

(This is a first draft. i plan on changing a lot of aspects of the story. But i thought that I'd post this draft so Cheyenne could get a feel of how i imagine Dawn.)

Kayla came downstairs to see Cheyenne in the living room, pushing a small lint roller along the cushions of the couch.
"Almost finished with spring cleaning, eh?" Kayla asked, reaching the last step on the staircase. Her eyes scanned the spotless room, taking notice of the glass vase on the coffee table. Inside the vase was a dozen white and pink tulips, their long leaves turned toward the nearby window. There was a periwinkle ribbon tied around the vase in the form of a bow. "Are those yours?" Kayla made her way across the room.
"Yes they are. Eric gave them to me this morning." She breathed, moving the lint roller across the arm of the couch.
"What for?" Kayla knew that Eric wasn't the type of guy to send flowers if not for a reason.
"He didn't say." Cheyenne stepped back and observed the couch. She then bent her hips forward and ran the lint roller over a floral pillow.
"No reason at all? Was there a card?"
Cheyenne shook her head and said nothing. Kayla watched as Cheyenne placed the lint roller on the table beside the vase.
The girls' turned their head toward the back door when they heard the plastic blinds slap against the window of the door.
Before the visitor made themselves known, Puck began to bark viciously.
Cheyenne's eyes widened instantly. Puck doesn't bark unless a stranger is present.
"Hiya, boy." Kayla heard Fred's voice say.
"Fred, you didn't tell me they had a dog! I'm allergic!" An annoying, womanly voice growled.
Kayla and Cheyenne walked into the kitchen and saw a young woman standing behind Fred in a Patriots jersey that seemed two sizes too large for her petite body. Her dark hair was wrapped in tight curls around her shoulders. Her jeans were too tight fitting and the silver necklace around her neck seemed cheap.
"Girls', this is my girlfriend, Dawn." Fred began when he caught Kayla staring at the girl. "Dawn, these are my friends Kayla and Cheyenne." A smile spread across Fred's face as he slid his arm around the woman's waist.
Dawn nodded her head agknowledingly and pushed the yipping pup aside with her pink converse shoe.
"Are you going to be okay?" Cheyenne asked our guest, worried that she'd break into uncontrollable hives.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. My nose just gets stuffy and i sneeze a lot. It's uncomfortable, but I'll live." Dawn said, watching Puck closely.
